The Grille specializes in steaks, but also offers seafood, poultry, and vegetarian dishes. When the weather cooperates, there is outdoor seating on the back deck until sundown. Walking distance from Hopkins Ordinary, this bakery and deli has great breakfast options, including doughnuts, muffins and breakfast sandwiches, and also a selection of sandwiches served on their own bread. They open early and can make food to take with you on your hike or enjoy on-site - - - creekside in season.
Foti's in Culpeper (30 minutes away) offers excellent, creative meals in an understated dining room. Opened by alumni of the Inn at Little Washington, Foti's offers a delicious dining experience. Reservations recommended.
Apartment 2g, 30 minutes away in Front Royal, offers a prix fixe menu on weekends, and their bistro, Element, is open five days a week. One of our favorite spots. Reservations recommended.
